Invoice Templates
Metric AI allows you to create invoices from templates to streamline the invoicing process. A template sets predefined information for new invoices, saving time and maintaining consistency. Editing a template will not affect invoices that were previously created from that template.
You can use one default template for your organization or create multiple templates if you need different sets of predefined information for various invoicing scenarios.
Editing an Invoice Template
Permissions needed: View Organization Settings and Edit Organization Settings
- Go to Settings › Invoicing › Templates ↗.
- Select the template you want to edit.
Editable Fields
- Name: You can change the name of the template (except for the default template).
- Invoice Title: Displayed at the top right corner of the invoice.
- Invoice Message: Shown at the bottom of the invoice.
- Company Name and Details: Information about your company that will be displayed on the invoice.
Attribute Settings
You can set the following invoice attributes to Off, Optional, or Required:
- Taxes
- Item Types
- Reference
- Invoice Message
- PO Number
Attribute Settings Options
- Off: Disable the attribute in both Edit and View modes.
- Optional: Enable the attribute, but allow the editor to remain empty.
- Required: Enable the attribute, and ensure the editor cannot remain empty.
Tax Configuration Options
- Per Invoice: Set one tax type for all invoice line items.
- Per Item: Set different tax types for each line item.
Default Settings
- Default Item Tax: Automatically applied to new line items.
- Default Item Type: Specifies the standard item type for new line items.
Saving Changes
Click the Save button to apply your changes.
Note: The default template cannot be renamed or deleted.
Creating an Invoice Template
Permissions needed: View Organization Settings and Edit Organization Settings
- Go to Settings › Invoicing › Templates ↗.
- Click the +ADD NEW button.
- Edit the new template as needed.
- Click the Save button to apply changes.
The new template will be available as an option when creating new invoices.
Deleting an Invoice Template
Permissions needed: View Organization Settings and Edit Organization Settings
- Go to Settings › Invoicing › Templates ↗.
- Select the template you want to delete.
Important: You cannot delete the default template.
- Click the DELETE button.
- Click the Save button to confirm your changes.
Note: Deleting a template will not affect invoices that were previously created using that template.
